If you follow my social media you know I often try to do a Question of the Day. For the last week of 2015 I decided to do a Question of the Week, asking people to share some of their highlights from the year. I would like to take the time to share mine as well!
This was a great year for gaming. My knee jerk reaction would be Fallout 4. It’s beautiful, enjoyable, and a great addition to one of my favorite series.
I think a special honor deserves to go to Rise of the Tomb Raider as well. The reboot of the series is one that I’ve enjoyed, and am passionate about. It continues to mark the great progress that women are making in games as far as representation. Lara is not perfect but she’s a step in the right direction for representation and I greatly enjoy the new games.
On the slightly more silly end of things Lego Jurassic World was a treat. I had been waning on the series but this one brought me right back in.
Getting over 100,000 gamerscore was certainly a bit of a highlight as well. The achievement hunters out there will understand.
Of course Star Wars. I would love to give it to something else but honestly I can’t. The movie was fun, the experience of seeing it early with a captive audience was a treat, and man that hype!
The Parks and Rec series finale really stands out to me. I was about a season or two late to the show in the beginning. I didn’t watch it until season 1 ended up on Netflix. Once I started watching I was drawn in almost instantly. I enjoyed it greatly through the years, and while the final season made some weird choices it worked out. It’s been awhile since the end of a show really got to me, there were a few tears in my eyes when I finished Parks and Rec.
On the anime front Himouto! Umaru-Chan was the clear winner for me this year. It was fun, adorable, hilarious, and I can relate to many of the characters more than I probably care to admit.
One of the biggest moments to me this year was reaching 1,000 followers on Twitch. It’s not an easy milestone (or wasn’t for me) but it is an important one. I was thrilled when it happened, and I am looking forward to moving upwards with such a great community of followers.
I also finished the first draft of a novel. While I’ve worked on a few this is the first time I have completed a draft. I still have a lot of work to go but I hope that over the coming months you will see updates on that, and hopefully an e-publishing date for it.
I would like to hear from all of you. What are some highlights from this year? Feel free to share as much or as little as you’d like
