What I’m Looking Forward to in 2017

This is slightly delayed but in the tradition of last year here are a few things I am looking forward to in the coming year.

While I have been completely disappointed with The X-Men movie franchise I can’t help but admit curiosity over this installment. If the trailers are correct it looks raw, gritty, and like something the movies have been missing all along.

Star Wars Episode VIII

I do agree with people that complained that episode VII was just A New Hope rehashed, but despite that I still enjoyed the movie well enough. I am curious to see where the franchise is headed, and glad that I can at least assume that it will remain better than the awful prequels.

Guardians of the Galaxy 2

The plot of the first movie left a lot to be desired. It was poorly paced and had it’s fair share of awkward moments. In spite of that the humor and visuals were amazing and more than enough to make up for what was lacking in story. I hope that this follow up brings the same humor, but does a bit more with the writing.

I actually can’t believe I am excited for this movie but I truly am. My family and I were pretty devoted to the TV series, and I am looking forward to a humorous take on it. This is more personal rather than any belief that the movie will be that great, but none the less.

The Young Pope

This show has already premiered in Europe, and has done surprisingly well. It intrigues me, with it’s blend of darkness and slight ridiculousness. I am also a big fan of both Jude Law and Diane Keaton.

Twin Peaks

Fans of the show have been waiting for this moment for a long time and I am thrilled it’s finally coming. There is not much to say other than I love David Lynch and his oddness. So, I am excited to get more.

Rick and Morty Season 3

I don’t know when this season is happening since the dates have changed a number of times. I am hopeful it’s 2017 (I would be surprised if it wasn’t) and I am super excited. I love this show, I love the “high concept sci-fi rigmarole”, and I love that it always pushes the viewers. Rick and Morty has made me feel a complete range of emotions, and I am looking forward to more.

Archer Season 8

We are nearing the end of the show as the creator has said that he does not plan on going past the 10th season. I am excited to see how they end it out. There are many directions to go at this point, including tone of the final seasons, and I look forward to the journey.

Video Games:

Horizon: Zero Dawn

I am a sucker for a good looking action RPG, and this is a good looking action RPG. I am a fan of the blend of future tech and caveman like settings. I am also very much looking forward to experience Aloy’s story.

Mass Effect: Andromeda

I want to state that I am a little on the fence at this point because I almost feel like they are pushing the date up too quickly. I had anticipated waiting a lot longer for the game, and it makes me nervous. That being said Mass Effect is one of my favorite series. While I will miss Shepard, and more specifically her crew, I am curious to see what will come for the universe. If the characters remain as compelling then I imagine I will be falling in love with so many all over again.

South Park: The Fractured But Whole

Stick of Truth suffered a bit from all of it’s delays but still managed to be an amazing game. I can’t wait to see what a bit more time in development (and less roadblocks) will mean for this game.

As an avid Banjo Kazooie fan I can’t help but be pumped for this spiritual successor. My few chances to demo the game have been completely enjoyable, and I am so excited to finally get my hands on it.

It’s the art, really. I am horrible at games like this and expect to totally rage at Cuphead, yet I remain excited. The art style just grabs me and I can’t wait for it.

Those are just a few of the things I am looking forward to in 2017 what about you? Comment and let me know ❤
